PUTTING THE BRAIN ON A FITNESS PLAN

Brain, portion of the central nervous system contained within the skull. The brain is the control center for movement, sleep, hunger, thirst, and virtually every other vital activity necessary to survival. All human emotions—including love, hate, fear, anger, elation, and sadness—are controlled by the brain. It also receives and interprets the countless signals that are sent to it from other parts of the body and from the external environment. The brain makes us conscious, emotional, and intelligent.

The brain is an amazing machine, one we still know very little about. Memory is an even bigger puzzle. You might have trouble remembering the time for a meeting, but you can still remember the intrinsic plot twists of a novel you loved. This is because memory most likely is selective. We remember or forget things based on a complex association of emotions, interest and importance.

When new information enters the brain, it triggers the release of chemicals and electrical signals. The more cells that are involved in the communication process, the longer the information remains in the brain. Short-term memory causes a temporary response in the brain, but long-term memory causes an anatomical change in the brain.

So is there anything you can do to improve your brain's capacity?
Experts believe that we can exercise our brains, just like our bodies. Keep your brain in top shape and your memory, capacity for learning -- and even your IQ -- might improve.

The Fence

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said "you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one." You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there.

Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

What would you do?

Imagine this scenario....... ...........

You are driving along in your two seater car on a wild stormy night. It's raining heavily and when you suddenly pass by a bus stop, you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is just about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect soul-mate you have been dreaming about all your life.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car?
Think before you continue reading...

............
.............
..............

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job interview.

* You could pick up the old lady and take her to the hospital to save her life since this is the humane thing to do.

* Or you could choose the old friend because he once saved your life and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.

* However, you may never be able to find your perfect soulmate ever again.

The candidate who was hired {out of 200 applicants} had no trouble coming up with his answer. Guess what his answer was?
...........
.............
..............

He simply answered:

"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the old lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the perfect soul-mate of my dreams."

Sometimes we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn egocentric thoughts . Always remember to "Think Outside The Box."

So what was your answer?????
